Yesterday, Monday, April 23, we had Dave’s memorial service. HIs battle with cancer started over 10 years ago and after the initial treatments he was plagued with ongoing physical ailments. This led to bouts of depression – but David never complained about his situation. He continued to work and even made top salesman, in radio advertising sales, in the nation for his company! He loved to fish and we spent many hours on the water together fishing out of our kayaks. His memorial service was beautiful. His step sons spoke of him like their real father and his sister shared much about his life from birth to early 20s. I was honored to to be a part of the service also.

I shared this passage yesterday:1 Thessalonians 4:13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

I truly believe the above words so I do not grieve without hope. But – I do grieve the loss of this brother, friend and fishing partner! I will miss him and ask that you pray for his sweet wife, Laura, the stepsons and all of the family as they navigate the grieving process.

The picture I posted here is the first trip I took Dave on after his first round of cancer at the beginning of this journey. Yes, he still out-fished me and that’s okay! I love the joy on his face, in this pic, and will remember him that way!

“Dave, thank you for your friendship and may God continue to hold your family in the hollow of His hand! Rest in eternal peace, my brother!”
