Our Mission Statement
Spring Creek Ministries is dedicated to assist people who have long-term or terminal illness and are no longer able to move about freely in society. Because of the fast pace culture we live in today, often times these people are simply forgotten. Our goal is to assist these people in staying connected to their church homes as well as helping them find the proper resources to deal with their ongoing challenges.
Our Goals:
1. To address the immediate needs of home-bound individuals, and those with long-term and terminal illnesses.
2. To increase awareness of this gap in ministry to local churches
3. To provided training and assist in setting up in-house programs for churches wanting to address this issue
Meet Our Dedicated Board
At Spring Creek Ministries, our board members are the backbone of our mission. Each brings a wealth of experience and a heart for service, guiding our efforts to provide compassionate support to those in need.
Lonnie Hamil
Board Member | Founder
While serving as Outreach and Involvement Minister at Sherwood Church of Christ, Lonnie saw a deep need to support elderly and home-bound members who felt forgotten by their church families. That calling led to the founding of Spring Creek Ministries in 2011—a ministry dedicated to bringing encouragement, connection, and spiritual care to those who often feel overlooked.
Lonnie is a husband, a father of 3 boys, and a grandfather of 2.
Aside from the ministry, Lonnie enjoys outdoors activities and operates a bowfishing guide service in central Texas.
Dru Lust
Board Member | Secretary
Dru Lust sells crop insurance, runs cows, and lives in Shallowater after growing up in the Abernathy area (aside from a year in Manhattan, Kansas after he and his wife married). He is a husband and father of three, with another child on the way. Mentored by his parents and grandparents—especially a grandfather whose personality he shares and grandmothers who modeled serving people—Dru joined the Spring Creek board after tagging along on lunches with his boss, Chris Cogburn, and Lonnie. This is his first time serving on a non-profit board.
He emphasizes careful stewardship of donated money, the value of monthly giving for planning, and Lonnie’s long-haul presence with families, including visits to Dru’s own grandfather who has Alzheimer’s.
Chris Cogburn
Board Member
Chris Cogburn manages Sustainable Crop Insurance Services and has spent nearly 20 years in the crop-insurance business. He grew up outside Happy, Texas, spent time around Dumas, and has lived in the Lubbock area since 2004; he now lives between Hale Center and Abernathy.
Chris first got to know Lonnie through church and Sunday school, then learned the full scope of Spring Creek over lunch and began supporting the ministry before accepting an invitation onto the board. He points to his grandmother as the person who taught him how to show up and be present, and he sees that same quiet, listening presence in the work Lonnie does with people who need someone beside them—often before hospice is even an option.
Sara Nall
Board Member | Treasurer
Sara Nall was born and raised in West Texas, holds an accounting degree, and has worked in accounting for more than 20 years. She is treasurer of Spring Creek Ministries.
She first met Lonnie when he came to her office for professional tax and financial guidance for the ministry, and, after a couple of years of working together, he asked her to join the board.
Her dad instilled integrity, work ethic, and the conviction that every dollar matters; a family friend later shaped her sense of community and service. Sara had already seen the ministry up close through the story of little Brynn Burk before she ever sat on the board. She stresses recurring monthly support so the ministry can plan, travel, and say yes to the next call without wondering whether the funds will be there.
Ross Hamil
Board Member
Ross Hamil lives in Lubbock with his family and co-owns Hamil Bros Studios with his brother. He is one of the longest-serving members of the Spring Creek Ministries board and has been around the ministry since Lonnie (his dad) started it more than a decade ago. Early on he produced videos for the ministry; later he joined the board as other members stepped off. Ross points to his parents, grandparents, and karate mentor and master Chad Hinkle as people who taught him to show up.
He has been on the receiving end of the ministry’s work as well, including during his grandmother’s final days. He also introduced Tiffany to Lonnie—a case he describes as one of the ministry’s defining stories. He talks about Spring Creek as a kind of spiritual EMS: inclusive, personal, and needed by almost everyone at some point.
