From Ashly, Daniel’s mom:
“Day 77- we have been home for several weeks now! Ray had updated the caringbridge page on day 48 but I somehow forgot to update on here. It has been so amazing to be back home, we’ve settled in to our new normal! We have been allowed to see handfuls of friends and family as long as everyone is washing their hands and not showing signs of sickness. This has been a huge moral boost for Daniel who has been missing everyone.
Daniels body is still not producing its own red blood cells and we are likely going to have another blood infusion next week. The doctors believe that his bone marrow will kick in any day to make those RBCs since he is doing so well making WBC and platelets. Even with that information, his numbers are stable enough for us to reduce our hospital visits down to one time a week! And the doctors have mentioned getting his central line out soon! Changing the dressing every week has been a miserable experience for him and showers are extra hard to try and keep it dry. Although I do think he will miss chasing his brother and sister with his “blood shooters.”
Overall he is doing so well and I am amazed by him everyday! He hardly complains and is so sweet and kind about it all. God surely has big plans for this little guy to endure all this with such a light heart. Our next big day is a few weeks away at day 100. From there we will potentially reduce medications and determine what we do next if his body isn’t making the RBCs. Continued prayers for complete healing!”
Let’s keep praying for this little champion!
