From Jody, Jasper’s dad:
Shared from Jody O’Briant:
We don’t always remember Jasper this way, but during September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, I think it’s important to recognize some of the hard things that he had to do. Hard things that he did sometimes with courage and strength and grace and sometimes with tears and questions and cursing. We can look at some of these pictures and even laugh. It was not all bad. There was good in, through, and sometimes in spite of the bad. But it was hard and he was just our little boy. There were chemos and pills and surgeries and hospitals and tumors and vomiting and pain and long car rides and being away from family and missing out on so many things. Not every child’s cancer journey looks the same. Some are worse than Jasper’s and some are maybe easier than his was. Some are shorter, either because they are healed or they go to be with Jesus quicker. We show you these hard parts today to maybe give you a little more understanding. We couldn’t share all of these things when he was here on earth because he didn’t necessarily want people to know all of these details; he didn’t like people to look at him as just cancer. Cancer was part of him, but it was not everything. He knew that he loved Jesus and that Jesus loved him and he knew that, through cancer, he was even more sure of that. If you have questions about our journey or how to understand childhood cancer or how to maybe help someone going through this, please reach out to us.
Jesus Is King
