Update on Kylie from Ashley:
“Kylie came home over the weekend! ❤️
God is good!
So, we are pretending this is Christmas week❤️🎄
Kylie was scheduled to have surgery tomorrow to have the port placed to start IVIG treatments to prevent her progressing towards rejection.
However, I requested we give her little body time to recover a little more.
Usually the anesthesiologist request patients wait 6 weeks after RSV, but with Kylie’s situation being critical, they will wait a week.
I am anxiously waiting to hear from Texas Children’s Hospital. They requested viles of Kylie’s blood last week to see if she has continued to progress towards rejection.
Infections are bad for transplant patients for many reasons. One reason being that when we get sick our immune system kicks in to fight off the infection. That’s great for us who are not transplant patients, but for Kylie this could cause her immune system to wake up and not only attack the infection but also the new organ. This is why we want her immune system to stay suppressed. It’s a double edged sword.
Kylie is still on a very high dose of steroids which is affecting her blood pressure. Also, we can’t seem to figure out why her Tacro (rejection medication) levels are so low. We have increased the dose twice, which makes me nervous because Tacro is extremely hard on the kidneys. So we are keeping a close eye on her vitals and labs.
Please pray that we get some good news from Texas Children’s today 🙏🏼
With all this, Kylie still has the most beautiful smiles! Keep praying, Prayer Warriors!
