Dealing With the Holidays!
Just a friendly reminder that during the holiday season there is much more going on than meets the eye! Even though we are out and about, shopping, visiting family and making memories – most of us have some sad memories surfacing also. Memories of past Christmas times with family who have passed away. Even though there are smiles on our faces, our hearts can be very heavy as we see vacant spots in the living room or at gatherings. Be mindful of what you say and how you say it!
So, may I suggest something? Take a few minutes to acknowledge what everyone already knows. Go around the room and let each person share who they are missing and also share a short story of a fond memory. This is not a time to suffer through a stressful or tragic ending – but a time for good memories. It is okay to shed a few tears. There is comfort and peace in sharing the loss of that “special someone”!
Now – close that chapter and make more great memories with those who are still here. Enjoy the holidays and realize that your lost loved one would want you to make the most out of the time you have left on earth!
Blessing, grace, and happy holidays to all!
