Got this text from Kim Hayes yesterday evening:
“Stable. Resting. Semi-alert at times. Slight fever, have already been treating with antibiotics but took a lung culture to check for bacteria. Treating for electrolyte imbalance. Heart rate fast. Oxygen good. Nowhere near removing vent like they hoped. Plan to put in trach on Sunday to buy some time to wean off vent and decrease risks of pneumonia. All in all, doing pretty good.”
