Kim sent this text awhile ago:
“Things went well with shoulder surgery. Doctor said it was a “very very very bad break.” They used 4 plates on the scapula because of the extent of damage. The shoulder is stable now although they did not fix the clavicle. If it’s bothering him a few days past this, they will determine if further surgery is needed. They had to go deep so there is a drain and a wound vac. He expects the drain to come out in a couple of days. Wound vac could be there a week.
There is a nerve that lays on top of scapula. It was intact which is good but it did show some fraying. Could take a little while for that nerve to heal.
They will be able to do a better assessment after they extubate him and he can better respond.
They went ahead and did a bronchoscopy while he’s still under a bit, removing some fluid from lung to send samples to the lab.”
Prayer Warriors – thank you for lifting this family up! They are still in the first leg of this journey so let’s storm the heavens for continued progress and healing of Stephen’s body and everyone’s hearts!
Note: Another special thank you to Open Door Church’s ladies for this awesome blanket! Although, I did feel a bit nervous carrying it through the hospital in Texas Tech territory!
