Garland had surgery today at 1. The port in his arm was clogged and the doctor was going to try to fix it. They had to put a tube in his chest to do dialysis. Surgery lasted a few hours. The surgeon had to do a lot more work than expected because his old fistula and vein had “fizzled out” which happens over time. He grafted in a new fistula to a new vein. Which means a couple more incisions, probably more recovery time. They’ll use his neck catheter to do dialysis for next two weeks. He’ll follow up with surgeon on arm in two weeks and has to keep it all elevated and bandaged until Friday.
