From Julie Hill, Kaleb’s mother

Update on Kaleb:

I apologize for not updating sooner, but the last seven or so days have been very difficult for Kaleb, and that makes it hard for me to share. His mental state has been in turmoil, and we have been given no answers, and my frustration has almost gotten the best of me. He went from normal lucidity to confusion to extreme delusion to a practically comatose state. It has been an absolute nightmare. He stopped communicating all together yesterday, and today – after all night and most of the day with fever, and our voiced concern about his breathing – he was sent for a chest x-ray, and low and behold his left lung was completely collapsed and he was moved to CICU where a bronchoscopy was immediately performed and he was intubated and placed on a ventilator. Although it seems worse, we are relieved that he is being watched more closely, and we are hoping for more definitive answers. I definitely have had to pray for a spirit of peace and forgiveness. Although we are worn and tears have temporarily replaced our laughter, by no means are we defeated. We will not be without hope. We will not allow our joy to be stolen. We will not hang our heads in anticipation of “the worst” – because we are encouraged and given promises that can not be broken.

Hebrews 12:1-3

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.”
